My Payday Wish List

Most of us spend our months wishing for payday, and I am no exception. Now I’m back working regularly I’m already building up quite the list. Check it out below!

Chanel Vitalumiere
Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup

I’ve never really paid much attention to Chanel foundations on the whole. They always seemed a little too rich for my blood and I thought I’d found my holy grail in Estee Lauders Double Wear.
But recently it’s lost it’s shine for me.
It’s so heavy on my face and the more I consider it the more I realize that it tends to make me looked caked in makeup, which is the very reason I steer clear of MAC foundations.
Recently though this Chanel offering caught my eye! A co-worker swears by it and it creates such a natural and dewy glow for her I’m dying to see what it can do for me!

Toshiba Chromebook

I’ve been in desperate need of a new laptop for the past few years and this baby is on special offer right now in Power City. I’ve heard great things about these Chromebooks and I think this one by Toshiba might be the one for me.
Have any of you ever tried a Chromebook? Tell me what you think in the comments!

Charlotte Tilbury
Luxury Palette, La Dolce Vita

Those of you who are regular readers of my blog will know that I am Charlotte Tilbury OBSESSED. I love the packaging of her products, the quality and the fact that they’re just a little bit different. I’ve been wanting one of her eye shadow palettes for so long and La Dolce Vita has definitely made the cut.

The July Update

Hello all!So I’ve never been the sort of gal to keep a diary of any sorts. I always had great intentions, but lacked the follow through. But, I do really like the idea of popping up a monthly update here on the blog, just to keep you all updated in what’s going on in the world of Lauren! You can probably expect these posts mid-month, and most likely on a Sunday.

So what am I waiting for?

This month I started a new job as a senior sales assistant with a lovely store near where I live. I know what you’re thinking, what happened to writing as a full-time career? This year I have been so incredibly lucky to have worked with some awesome media organisations, Maximum Media and the Irish Daily Mail being among the highlights. But getting into a solid career in journalism is much harder than I ever thought it would be, and believe me ladies and gents I didn’t go into this thinking it would be easy!

I’m still blogging away here on a daily basis and still freelancing three days a week, but I’m quite happy with my new situation. I missed working and I really missed earning regularly and enjoying some of the perks that a regular paycheck brings.

That’s not to say that I’m not going to be pursuing other goals while I’m working away. For a good year now I’ve wanted to take on a course in Public Relations and Social Media and I’ve decided that as soon as I have the money I’m going to go for it. As much as I hate to admit it, I actually really miss college. I don’t feel like I gave my 3 years in UCD my all and I think I’ll always regret that, so I’m looking forward to getting back into study mode again.

Exciting things will be happening on the blog over the next two months. I’ve decided that I’m going to purchase the blogs domain name and host it myself, which means a more fluid viewing experience for all you guys. We’re also going to under go a redesign so everything becomes much more accessible and it will all look pretty slick by the time we’re done! That means that Wilde Chic will be offline for a little while, but make sure you’re following all the relevant social media and you’ll still get your fix.

So that’s it as far as my update goes so far! As always, thanks for reading! x

Beauty Icons

I recently wrote a post about my fashion and style icons, which seemed to go down an absolute treat with most of you because I’ve gotten loads of positive feedback from you all!

I’m not sure if I’ve ever said it before but I absolutely love it when you guys email me your thoughts and ideas and leave your comments below each post so please keep it up!

Given that the style icon post was so popular I decided I write another today about my all time favourite beauty icons.

Brigitte Bardot

She’s gone down in History as one of the most stunning women of all time and I can’t stop crushing over Bardot’s seductive pout and enviable cat eye. Those coupled with that infamous beehive made her a beauty force to be reckoned with and one of my personal icons.

Grace Kelly
I’ve been in love with Grace Kelly ever since watching High Society a couple of years ago. Her look was classic and simple, with neat brows and a classic red pout.

Elizabeth Taylor
Good old Liz was like a beauty chameleon, constantly adapting her look to move with the times, and doesn’t she do it beautifully? Famous for those big eyes and that perfect pout, Taylor is my ULTIMATE beauty icon.

My Bucket List of Designer Bags

Most people have a bucket list of sorts. A list of things they’d love to do before they die and so on.

Don’t get me wrong, I have one of those too. But I also have a bag bucket list. That is a list of three bags I’d like to own before I kick the proverbial. Or at the very least by the end of the year (I’m an impatient wagon I know!)

I know that sounds a bit crazy, but I have a bag addiction that my parents swear was inherited from my grandmother.

It’s not like they’re just any old bags either, these are bags created by designers who’s work is important.
Designers who have changed the way we dress and view ourselves today.

So what’s on my bag bucket list? Check out the list below:

Michael Kors:
Jet Set Tote

I must be one of the only girls I know not to have taken the plunge and picked up a Michael Kors Jet Set Tote. I’ve had my eye on this one in navy for a long time now. Yeah, lot’s of people have one, but for good reason! They’re the every-woman bag. I have a feeling I’ll be ticking this one off the bucket list sooner rather than later!

Dolce and Gabana:
Miss Sicily Crossbody Bag

I love the sleek design of this bag, coupled with that little bit of spice that Dolce and Gabana always bring to the table. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a black bag either.
Now all I have to do is drum up €1500.

Kate Spade:
Strut Your Stuff – Flamingo Applique Maise

I love bags with quirky designs, and I also have a major obsession with flamingos. I think a bag like this will always be perfect for summer wear, regardless of passing trends.

The Summer Accessories Edit 2015

I’m a firm believer in starting each season with the right accessories. I know it’s always important to have some real statement pieces as part of your wardrobe, and while I’m on my way to collecting those, certain accessories can do a hell of a lot to help dress up everything else.

I wanted to take the opportunity to use this post to show all you lovely guys and dolls the pieces that I wouldn’t be able to do without as we move into high summer.

The Wide-Brimmed Hat:

I was so pleased to pick up a wide-brimmed hat that was actually reasonably priced! I’d be perusing the shelves at River Island and H&M for quite a while, but when it came to the crunch I wasn’t spending €20.00 + on a hat. This one was the nicest out of all the ones I’ve seen and it was only €10.00! Penney’s to the rescue once again.

The Sunglasses:

This will be my second summer with these beauts from River Island. As far as I can recollect they were just  €13.00, a real bargain for such good quality! I love the oval frames, with a silk scarf in my hair these will be perfect for channeling some of that 70’s glamour this season.

The Necklace:

Another trip to Penneys saw me bag this pastel pink, beaded beauty for just €5.00. I’m wearing lots of crisp white shirts and blouses this summer as well as mixing and matching some denim pieces to nail that 70’s trend and this goes excellently.

The Wristlet:

This little gem was a leaving present that I received from some lovely colleagues about a year ago. It’s a wristlet bag from Coach in Kildare Village and I love it. It’s a beautiful coral colour which means it goes with most of my summer wardrobe. It’s also super spacious. It’s the perfect bag for a night out.

Hydrating Heros: Voya Saves The Day

About a month ago, I arrived home from work to find that I had received two beautiful gifts from one of my favorite home-grown brands, Voya.

Where I can, I prefer to use Irish skincare and body care brands. Our little emerald isle is gifted with some beautiful, natural ingredients that it seems like such a shame not to make use of them.

So what was in the package I hear you ask? Well, it was the frankly divine Angelicus Serratus Nourishing Body Oil and the wonderfully soothing Softly Does It Hydrating Body Lotion.

Needless to say I set to work on the body lotion straight away, and I was definitely pleased with the product over all. It’s lime and mandarin scented (anything smelling of lime INSTANTLY reminds me of summer) and the texture was positively beautiful. It blended seamlessly into my skin and didn’t stick on my hands for too long afterward like other body lotions can. I suffer terribly with dry skin on my legs, so that’s where I set this baby to work. After four weeks of use I can see a visible reduction in how parched looking my pins look and all that pesky dry skin is at a minimum. It’s blended with organic seaweed, prickly pear oil, plum oil and poppy seed to soothe and moisturise skin and for me it’s done just that. A win in my books! Pick it up for just €32.00 on the Voya Website, or click the link above.

It took me a little longer to get started with the body oil. I’ve had some icky experiences with oils before and usually I don’t like applying them to my skin. However one evening after a particularly long soak in the bath, I applied some to my still dampened skin. This helped blend it really easily and after I lightly patted myself dry I could still smell that delicious lime scent.
I won’t say I saw any over night miracles with this oil, but I have been using it religiously after every shower and bath, and I have to say my skin does look… healthier. It’s so much more supple, not as dry as it used to be, and has a healthy looking glow. It is a bit pricey at €37.00, but you really would need only the smallest amount and it’s certainly a little bit of luxury.

Have you ever tried any Voya products? Or are there any other Irish skincare brands I should be trying? Let me know in the comments!
